What Is Feng Shui?
Feng Shui is a traditional Chinese system of thinking about the relationship between people and the spaces they inhabit — including orientation, placement, movement, symbolism and the surrounding environment.
Wind and water
The words Feng Shui translate as “wind” and “water” — two natural forces that move, gather and shape landscapes. Traditionally, the practice considered how a site was protected from harsh wind and supported by gentle water.
In a modern home, the same idea can be explored through light, air, circulation and the way a room feels as you move through it.
Feng Shui begins with observation — of light, movement and how a space feels.
A framework, not a formula
In traditional Feng Shui practice, there are several schools and methods. Rather than a fixed set of rules, it is best understood as a framework for observing a space carefully and arranging it with intention.
Better Feng Shui focuses on principles that remain practical in contemporary homes, apartments and workplaces.
Feng Shui is presented here as a traditional cultural practice and a framework for arranging space with intention. It is not a substitute for professional medical, legal, financial or psychological advice. Read the disclaimer.
