Feng Shui for Beginners
You do not need special objects or a complete redesign to begin. Most traditional advice starts with simple, observable changes to how a space is arranged and maintained.
Start with the entrance
The entrance is traditionally considered the “mouth” of the home, where Qi enters. Keep it clear, well lit and welcoming.
Clear what you no longer need
Clutter is often associated with stagnant energy. Practically, it also makes a space harder to move through and harder to rest in.
Consider your key positions
Your bed, desk and main seating are where you spend the most time. Traditional practice places these in a “commanding position” with a clear view of the door.
Balance light and materials
Notice whether a room feels too bright or too dark, too hard or too soft. Gently balancing these qualities reflects the ideas of Yin and Yang.
